God intends for each of us to continue to grow spiritually. As a matter of fact, all forms of life will continue to mature and grow unless there is some form of defect.
God's design for our spiritual being is no different. We are commanded in scripture to continue to grow spiritually.
The first steps of a baby Christian include the recognition of sins and the repentance of them. This process also includes having faith in God that He is able to forgive you of your sins.
Jesus said that when we commit our lives to following Him, our spirits are born-again and a whole new life begins with us.
With this wonderful gift of new life, we are responsible for its growth and maturation. Jesus also said that when some people hear the Gospel it's like a "seed that fell among thorns: they hear it but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the Word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop." Luke 8:14-15
We must continue to water the seed of life that has been planted within us. God's goal for us is to mature into the image of Christ.
