Prayer & Fasting

Ever feel like something is missing in your life? You're probably experiencing connection issues: you are disconnected from God and too connected to the world. Prayer and fasting can have a powerful reconnection ability to setting your life back on track.

Prayer is one of the ways for Christians to know God intimately and personally. Moreover, it is in prayer that we participate with God in what He is doing on earth. We discern the heart of God and add our "yes" to His Word and work. Prayer is the engine of ministry at Christian Life Fellowship. Every week there are prayer meetings you can participate in.

There are three disciplines in the New Testament that every believer should practice: Giving, Praying and Fasting. Fasting is one of the least known of the three, but it is a practice mentioned both in the Old and New Testament of the Bible and by Jesus Himself, and it has incredible power for our lives today.
Fasting disconnects us from the world by our willful denial of our flesh and abstinence from food. Fasting isn’t about punishing yourself because God wants you to suffer, rather it’s about intentionally disconnecting from wordly things for a season so you can hear from God and experience the full life He has for you. 21 Days of Prayer

We will begin 2017 by fasting for 21 days. Fasting in January is much like praying in the morning to establish the will of God for the entire day. When we seek God first in our lives, He promises to add everything else to us that we need. We believe that beginning our year with an extended fast sets the spiritual tone for the months ahead and helps us to align with God’s priorities. Together, we will faithfully seek God first, trusting in His power alone to create lasting impact in our lives, our church and our world.

The Gathering

The Gathering happens the first Wednesday evening of every month in the CLF Sanctuary. We set aside that day as a church to fast and then come together that evening to pray, worship and seek the Lord. There will be times of ministry as well for individuals, families and special prayers focused for our city. We welcome families to bring their children to this as we desire to see the generations worship together.

Prayer-walking is the simple act of putting feet to our prayers We do this specifically within our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces etc. in order to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit may be leading us to do and also to pray on-sight for the people who do life in those spaces. We combine our 21 days of prayer and fasting at the beginning of the year with 21 days of prayer-walking as well.

For ideas of what to pray, see our Prayer-walking calendar.
